This project started off with just one lonely open shelf and a rod. I knew I needed some storage and wanted to add a larger open shelf to be more accessible right above the washer/dryer. I purchased the cabinets from Ikea, wallpaper and rug from Amazon and made the shelves using wood from Home depot then stained them to a nice natural tone. Check out the before photo to see how it started.
Added a fresh coat of paint on this french style chest of drawers and oh boy what a difference it makes! We have a small guest room and painting the bulky furniture the same color as the walls make the room feel larger! I decided the keep the original pulls but painted them with a warm white and added some distress to keep the character of the antique piece.

Accent walls are a must-have when you are trying to add a pop of color to a basic room. Our guest bathroom ceilings are not very tall so I decided to arch the accent wall and create a window feel to the window-less basic empty wall.
Adding macrame decor and a hanging planter adds warmth, texture, and depth. Then I hand-painted and framed some art with warm and inviting colors to complete the look.
Have a small space and don't want to use a full headboard? Then wainscotting an accent wall or space is the perfect resolution. In our guest room, there ended up being the perfect space between two windows for a queen size bed. The only problem was there was not enough space to put an entire queen-size headboard and footboard and still be able to move around comfortably. Adding this wainscotting to the space allowed a pop of color but also barely took up any physical room since it is nailed and constructed directly on the wall.
I even added a 2" lip on the top so I could place and stack pictures and plants for a boho look.

Barn doors are a great way to add character and functionality to a room or space. Our laundry room had a door that opened to the inside and was creating dead space behind the door that I wanted to use! Barn doors are easy to make and customize to fit any doorway. I painted mine a classic white and used black matte accessories and hardware. Since I did not want to remove the doorframe trim I added a painted piece of wood behind the railing so the barndoor glides smoothly without scrapping the existing trim.

Herbs are by far the easiest thing I have found to keep alive in my garden! Using a ladder allows you to have multiple tiers of herbs without using too much footprint in your yard. I built my ladder around the Home Depot rectangular planter boxes that are designed with elevated feet for proper drainage/airflow. Having an open bottom on each tier also adds an additional water feature where each tier drains into the one below so they are constantly being watered.

Embroidery needlework by hand is very therapeutic for most people! This was one of the first embroidery patterns I tackled by hand and absolutely loved how it turned out. Doing the stitching by hand allows for a thicker thread and develops a 3D look from the fabric which I love. I could have left the needlework in the hoop and displayed it by hanging it on a wall or easel but I decided to add some fun trim and backing and stuffed it to make an accent pillow.
This is by far the biggest project we have accomplished in our home to date! The large basic wall that you see when you first walk into our home was just not doing it for me... there needed to be a statement piece or better yet built-ins that could be multifunctional and look like they came with the house! I kept the design simple by using Ikea bookcases and a framed-out center section for the TV, mantle, and electric fireplace so I could hide the cords. I had some excellent help (find their Insta link below) for most of this project due to having surgery on my back but it all came together perfectly!

This project was so fun and only took a day to complete but wow It transformed the look! The original paneling that hung on the wall was missing a piece where the upholstered bed frame was placed, so first I made a new piece of wood paneling to match the existing paneling (picture 4). Then I reupholstered the entire piece of paneling in 3 sections and reattached it to the wall. Check out the before to see the total transformation (picture 5). Tip: fabric comes standard In different widths and can be cut to any length requested. When picking out fabric make sure the width will cover your piece as well has add in additional inch to two for the staples.
I have recently gotten into machine embroidery and love all the different designs and custom pieces you can create! I have been doing several gifts for some of my besties that are having their first child and it is so special to give a customized gift with their baby's name on it! There are so many different options for embroidery from thread type, color, stitch, and fabric the customization possibilities are endless!
